Theat a Glance series is popular among medical students, residents, junior doctors and health professionals for its concise and clear approach and excellent illustrations.

Each topic is concisely covered in a double–page spread with color summary diagrams accompanied by explanatory text. Covering a wide range of topics, books in the at a Glance series are ideal as introductory subject texts or for revision purposes, and are useful throughout medical and nursing training and beyond.

Everything you need to know about Neonatology... at a Glance!

Written by leading international experts, this accessible overview provides need–to–know information on perinatal medicine, the normal newborn infant, preterm infants and neonatal problems encountered in Intensive Care Units, and their management.

Neonatology at a Glance:

  • Provides coverage of the important conditions you will encounter
  • Addresses ethical issues, the death of an infant, quality assurance and evidence–based medicine
  • Includes invaluable advice on practical procedures, in text and diagrammatic form
  • Has been updated to reflect current practice in both the UK and US

Neonatology at a Glance is the perfect guide for all health professionals looking after newborn infants, including paediatric trainees, medical students, neonatal nurse practitioners and neonatal nurses, therapists and midwives. For neonatologists, pediatricians and nurse tutors it is a valuable resource to assist with teaching.

"It would be a useful complement to more in–depth information that paediatricians and neonatal nurses would provide to parents with a sick or preterm infant." (NZ College of Midwives magazine, 1 December 2011)

this book contains most things about neonatology from a nurse point of view. the book is broken down into sections which are easy to understand and are accompanied by pictures and photographs to help you understand it more. i found it really easy to read. it is great for students as the layout is simple and it doesnt use big medical terms. it is also good for experienced staff to recall the basics to explain to students or to remind them of why something happens etc.

very easy to read book which provides information in a way for even the most distracted person to be able to take in as there are lots of text boxes, diagrams and bullet points. One of the most enjoyable text books around

Neonatology being often seen as a sub-specialty stuck between Obstetrics (prior to birth) and Paediatrics (after birth) is often taught in different ways depending on the medical school you go to. If you are looking for a text that will introduce you to the topic whether it's because you have a particular interest or so that you can bridge the gap between the two specialties then you should certainly consider this title. Being in the 'At a Glance' series this is not a detailed textbook but it is certainly fairly broad in the areas of neonatology that it covers, far more than you'd be expected to know at medical school but nonetheless easy to read! The advantages in particular are the routine care and key points boxes that can be found interspersed throughout the title. The disadvantage to this reader is that there are not really any self-assessment questions as such and unlike many of the other 'At a Glance' titles in recent years it does not have an accompanying website with downloadable images, interactive cases/questions/notes.In conclusion I would not call this an essential book for all medical students to consider adding to their personal libraries but if you are interested in either Obstetrics, Paediatrics or Neonatology itself then this is certainly a highly useful text to introduce you to the field.Competing Interests: Medical Student Reviewer - Received Gratis copy of this Title

Intended for the professional, this is written in a very readable way for the novice, and for those who are just interested in the subject in a more general sense.

Really is neonatal at a glance, all the basics with pictures and what to look out for. Would be better if it was a little smaller (its A4 size).

This book fits well into the excellency of the whole 'at a Glance' series. It is concise, yet explicit and provides useful informations regrading basic care of newborns. I recommend this book for any physician, who occasionally has to deal with this age group.

A simple, easy-to-read introduction to Neonates for the 1st timer in Neonates. Kindle version - charts, boxes often difficult to read, even on iPad, illegible on Paperwhite.
